Adidas have just started promoting the launch of the 2013/2014 kit so this got me thinking that I had not actually bought a new kit in a couple of seasons.
Then it dawned on me that since I stopped getting them for my birthday I had only bought one (last seasons home kit) which means I have only bought one kit in the last seven years; in fact I have only ever been to the Chelsea Megastore twice.
I am probably an extreme case but I certainly don’t feel that buying merchandise has any impact on whether I am a fan or not, but it did make me curious about the rest of you out there.
We have had some great kits over time, I still love the 1994/1995 Amiga home and away kits with the home kit particularly iconic.
My favourite of all time remains the 1996/1997 Yellow with a Blue stripe away kit; this is particularly true when I see pictures of it being worn by Gianfranco Zola.
The classics are often the best so I have to ask: do you have to buy the latest kit as soon as it comes out, even if this season it went on pre-order before fans even know what it looks like?
This is not a test or a trick; I am just curious.
