The rookie hero Tangle and mysterious sniper Whisper have only been around for two years, yet in that time they’ve managed to earn a strong following among the comic’s readers, even earning starring roles in a 4-part miniseries last year. And now they’re coming to Sonic Forces Mobile for a 3-part event, developer Hardlight announced. The first part will consist of a week-long event where players will be able to unlock Tangle, followed by another event for Whisper, and culminating in a community event where players can battle Dr. Eggman’s army to earn Tangle and Whisper-themed cards.

Released as a tie-in to the the 2017 platformer of the same name, Sonic Forces Mobile (or Sonic Forces: Speed Battle as it was known originally) is a competitive racing/auto-runner where players can race each other to complete challenges and unlock a growing collection of characters from the games and other media including the Sonic the Hedgehog movie and now the comics.
While hardly the highest-profile Sonic game available, the news has been met with plenty of excitement among fans of the IDW comic. Now that they’re being added to this game, the hope is that this will open the door for Tangle, Whisper, and other characters from the Sonic comics to be brought into the mainline games.
Sonic Forces Mobile is free-to-play on iOS and Android devices.
