In Grand Theft Auto 3, there’s a Francis International airport billboard that teases Grand Theft Auto: Vice City by showing a plane with the text “See You In Miami.” Those playing Grand Theft Auto 3 didn’t know it at the time, but the billboard was clearly meant to tease Vice City, as the titular city is based on Miami, Florida. Since Rockstar Games used that billboard to tease Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in the past, it didn’t take GTA fans long to make a beeline straight to it in the Definitive Edition to see if it changed.

Upon checking out the Vice City billboard in Grand Theft Auto 3: The Definitive Edition, however, fans will notice that it doesn’t look quite the same. The billboard has been changed so it now says “See You Soon,” and instead of Vice City imagery, it appears to be showing Los Santos. Now, some fans think that this tease is simply a reference to the upcoming re-release of Grand Theft Auto 5, but others think that it’s actually a tease for GTA 6.

The reason why some fans think that the billboard is actually meant to tease Grand Theft Auto 6 instead of the GTA 5 next-gen ports is because the plane appears to be departing from the Los Santos beach instead of arriving at it. Some fans are taking this to mean that Rockstar Games is teasing that GTA players will finally be leaving Los Santos and moving on to Grand Theft Auto 6, though that is likely a pretty big reach.

The other part of the theory is that the “S” in the “Fly Us” on the airplane looks like a “6,” aka Grand Theft Auto 6. While it’s certainly possible that Rockstar Games is using this billboard to tease Grand Theft Auto 6, the more likely explanation is that the billboard is teasing the Grand Theft Auto 5 next-gen ports, so fans should keep their expectations in check.

While no official information on Grand Theft Auto 6 exists at the time of this writing, leakers have suggested that GTA 6 is in development hell. Whether or not there’s any truth to that remains to be seen, however.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is rumored to be in development.
