Prior to a new batch of leaked screenshots, the only leak gamers had was that Call of Duty 2023 is supposedly semi-futuristic. The leaked images seem to support this rumor while giving fans insight into several other aspects of the next Treyarch title. While it is possible that the photos are part of an elaborate leak, and fans should take the images with a grain of salt, they are certainly intriguing.

The first image, which can be seen here, shows an area resembling the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War map Moscow - though Treyarch may simply be doing some testing in the playspace as opposed to crafting a remaster. Another image shows three killstreaks, with the highest and lowest streaks clearly taking the form of futuristic vehicles. Alongside the high-tech streaks, the images show a working title of Call of Duty: Black Ops. While a subtitle or a number is likely, it seems like the game will be part of the Black Ops subseries if this leak is legitimate.
The images show that the three core game modes of the Call of Duty series are set to return, and intriguingly, Zombies Factions will seemingly be a part of the co-op mode. This is a big deal, as the feature was originally announced for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies but never released. Players can only choose one faction per Season, and they will get six special challenges to complete for their group of choice. These will unlock six rewards, likely in the form of cosmetics. The factions include Requiem, Omega, Dark Aether, and a new group that lacks an image. With the Maxis group gone, Samantha will likely not feature in a major way.
Another intriguing part of the leak is the “ability” screen for Multiplayer. This features abilities pulled directly from Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s Specialists, such as Firebreak’s Heatwave and Spectre’s Active Camo. It seems like the abilities are a more over-the-top take on Field Upgrades, as they are found next to the Lethal and Tactical equipment in Create-A-Class. Intriguingly, the Perks are replaced with “Chips,” driving home the idea that the next entry in the Call of Duty series will be futuristic. The campaign will also feature a Realism difficulty.
The last part of the leak worth mentioning is the game’s design goals, which seem to include some form of destruction and a return of “classic” Call of Duty Zombies gameplay - likely meaning that round-based Zombies will be the focus again. It will also “bridge the gap” between the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot’s gameplay and the Black Ops series.
