Potion Craft is a game that focuses on collecting alchemy ingredients and using them to create different types of potions for adventurers and townsfolk. While other potion crafting games like Potion Permit are more similar to Stardew Valley, Potion Craft focuses more on the crafting aspect of things. It has in-depth mechanics to create potions, like manually grinding up ingredients, combining them in a cauldron, and making sure players take all the right steps to craft the potion with the intended effects. The game tops this off with very stylized graphics reminiscent of a medieval manuscript, which definitely adds to the alchemist aesthetic.

Potion Craft initially launched in early access on PC in September 2021. The game came out of early access and on to Xbox in December 2022, but was not available on either the PlayStation or the Nintendo Switch at that time. Now, however, Potion Craft has a confirmed PlayStation release for Spring 2023. Unfortunately for PlayStation-owning Potion Craft fans, there has not yet been a specific date announced, which means the game could come out as early as March, or as late as May–or even June, potentially.
There seem to be a pretty decent amount of games that are either focused on potion crafting or include it in a significant way being released lately. Most of them, however, are more in the vein of games like Potion Permit, where players have a cozy village to explore and there’s more of an RPG aspect to it. Potion Craft, on the other hand, has zeroed in on the potion crafting aspect as the main focus of the game, and with a neat medieval bent to the graphics. Cozy games have been increasing in popularity, and although Potion Craft isn’t quite in the same genre as popular cozy games like Stardew Valley, Cozy Grove, or Animal Crossing, it still shares some of those gameplay aspects and aesthetics, so there’s a chance it will be popular with cozy gamers.
Of course, Potion Craft does have a strong focus on alchemical crafting side of the game, and it doesn’t really bring much exploration or cosmetic customization options to the table. Because of this, gamers who enjoy the cozy aesthetic might not be quite as into Potion Craft as they are with cozier games. For players who enjoy games with immersive crafting mechanics, however, Potion Craft could be right up their alley.
Potion Craft is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and will launch for PS4 and PS5 in Spring 2023.
