As the curator of the local Alchemy shop, players in this sim game have to meet the demands of the locals when it comes to medicines, tinctures, and potions. One of the secrets aspiring Alchemists find during their training is how to brew a potion with more than one effect. Clients will start to request this feature specifically as the chapters progress, and they’ll pay extra for it.

Using The Alchemy Map

The Tutorial for the game walks players through the process of making a potion, but this example only has a single effect. Most of the new recipes during this point of the game will be of this simple variety. To make a potion with two effects, the Alchemist must have already discovered at least one other potion and a wider portion of the map.

There are a variety of tools the Alchemist has in their Laboratory that can move the potion bottle. Learning how to use these basic tools, in addition to a variety of herbs and regents, is essential for making a potion with two effects.

Ladle: Add water to the mix to move the potion bottle back toward the center of the map. Cauldron: Add the raw or refined ingredients and stir to move the potion icon across the map. Mortar and pestle: Crush regents to change or lengthen the path of the potion icon on the map. Bellows: Fire these to finish the mixture. Recipes can be saved after this point.

Potions And Their Effects

Potions have either positive or negative effects. Combining two contrary properties is possible but not always profitable. Combining a Poison potion with a Healing potion doesn’t make a lot of sense, but combining Healing with Agility might work.

When a client comes to the shop asking for a potion with multiple effects, they won’t accept a potion with contradictory properties. Keep this in mind so expensive or rare alchemy ingredients aren’t wasted on useless potions.

How To Create A Potion With Two Effects

There are two different ways to begin making a recipe with two effects. The Alchemist can start a new potion or begin with a recipe they previously discovered.

The power of the second effect can be stronger or weaker than the first one. Later in the game, the player will need to infuse a potion with several different effects of various potency levels to use the Alchemy Machine.

Starting A New Recipe

Choose The Recipe: Decide which effect the potion should have first. Move The Potion Bottle Icon: Use the required herbs or other regents to map out a path for the potion bottle icon. Determine The Potion Strength: Maneuver the potion bottle as close to the outline on the map as possible for a stronger concoction. Use The Bellows: Infuse the potion with heat to get a potion with one effect. Don’t use the green “Finish potion” button at this point unless the recipe has been saved. Choose The Second Recipe: Move the potion bottle toward the second recipe using the required herbs or other reagents. Determine the Potion’s Strength: As with the first potion, move the bottle carefully for weaker or stronger effects. Don’t forget the Ladle moves the bottle back to the center. Use The Bellows: Infuse the potion a second time, and the potion will now have two effects. Finish The Recipe: Complete the recipe using the “Finish potion” button on the left side of the map.

Starting From A Saved Recipe

Open The Recipe Book: Decide which saved potion recipe to start with, and use the button on the bottom left that says, “Continue brewing from here. " Choose The Second Recipe: Decide on a secondary effect for the potion. Try to choose a recipe nearby or in the same direction. Move The Potion Bottle Icon: Use the required ingredients to move the potion bottle icon to the recipe bottle on the map. Determine the Potion’s Strength: Move the bottle into the outline for a stronger effect. Remember to use the Ladle if needed. Use The Bellows: Infuse the potion with the second effect. Finish The Recipe: Save at this point if desired. It’s possible to continue from this point and infuse the potion with more effects.
